The primary responsibility of the Head of Global Chemical Safety in ADAMA is to lead the implementation of chemical regulations requirements (e.g. CLP, GHS, REACH, REACH-like, plant protection) in close interaction with different internal and external stakeholders and to be on top of upcoming changes in this area globally. This individual will be managing an international team located at different sites globally, and will represent ADAMA and ADAMA's interests outside the company, e.g. in industry associations and Task Forces.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Managing a team of 8–10 team members located in different countries to:
    • develop and empower the team by delegating, supporting, and mentoring.
    • execute on the ADAMA business priorities by setting challenging goals and committing to achieving them.
    • ensure continuous quality work and best practices within the team, and close collaboration with different internal and external stakeholders.
  • Implementation of EU REACH and “REACH-like” regulations as well as registration of chemicals on behalf of ADAMA globally.
  • Proactive following up regulatory developments in key markets to identify business opportunities, as well as potential concerns for ADAMA's portfolio.
  • Responsible for classification and labeling of chemical substances and formulations under CLP and GHS.
  • Implementation of regulatory obligations and processes under CLP (e.g. notifications to Poison Center in cooperation with country organizations) and GHS regulations in close cooperation with different internal stakeholders.
  • Providing and supporting all relevant units in ADAMA as well as customers with regulatory compliant SDS globally.
  • Definition and tracking of product compliance roadmap.
  • Communication with authorities, internal and external suppliers as well as customers.
  • Development of a product compliance database (e.g. to monitor official requirements per product group).
  • Active participation in expert teams within industrial associations (e.g. CropLife Europe) and Task Forces.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in chemistry, biology, industrial engineering or comparable studies.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the field of chemical regulations (e.g. CLP, GHS, REACH, REACH-like, plant protection).
  • Strong ability to lead, develop and motivate an international team.
  • Good organizational skills with ability to multi-task on several projects and independent working.
  • Ability to recognize and concentrate on important aspects, e.g. new developments in the area of chemical regulations which could impact ADAMA’s business interest.
  • High level of responsibility and resilience.
  • Intercultural competencies.
  • Good verbal and written communication abilities in English.
