The primary responsibility of the Senior Chemical Safety & Regulations Manager is to develop and implement strategies for emerging regulatory topics in the fields of chemical regulations and/or hazard communication regulations (classification & labelling) on a global scale. This involves monitoring of global regulatory developments, analyzing their impact on the ADAMA business and coordinating all relevant activities with regulatory colleagues and other teams as well as supervising all necessary work to assure ongoing compliance of the ADAMA product portfolio and fulfillment of relevant obligations globally.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate regulatory activities in the field of chemical regulations and/or hazard communication globally in collaboration with colleagues from within the team and from other teams. Develop strategies for addressing emerging regulatory topics (e.g. EU Chemical Strategy for Sustainability) by analyzing their impact on the ADAMA business and leading corresponding implementation projects.
  • Provide functional leadership to team members in the area of chemical regulations or hazard communication. Support team members by mentorship/training and build up further expert knowledge within the team.
  • Manage new & existing substance registrations and notifications according to chemical regulations for different global regions (e.g. EU REACH & CLP, KKDIK/Turkey, MEE Order 12/China etc.).
  • Support in the global rollout of the safety data sheet (SDS) software and in maintaining the SDS database. Contribute to the development and implementation of processes related to classification and SDS preparation.
  • Monitor global GHS implementation on country level and collaborate with country organizations on implementation projects.
  • Evaluate regulatory risks for novel products in development stage in collaboration with local experts and R&D teams globally. Analyze and proactively communicate upcoming regulatory risks to relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Provide technical consultancy on topics related to chemical regulations and hazard communication to internal stakeholders globally. Act as focal point for requests from authorities, customers, and cooperation partners.
  • Represent ADAMA in industry associations and consortia.
  • Establish a network of external contractors & consultants to support the team in fulfilling relevant regulatory obligations in the fields of SDS/dossier preparation and risk assessment.
  • Support the development of new/improvement of existing internal working processes for the team in general and define relevant interfaces to other teams and functions.

 

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Chemistry, Biology, Agriculture or another relevant field (Ph.D. preferred).
  • At least five years previous professional experience in the field of chemical regulations and/or hazard communication/classification & labelling. Initial leadership experience is a plus.
  • Ability to mentor, develop and motivate team members.
  • Basic skills in project management.
  • Proactive work attitude with good organizational skills and ability to multi-task on several projects.
  • Communicative team player with excellent networking skills (internal/external).
  • Very good language skills in English (spoken and written) are a must, additional language skills (German) are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel.
